At Ponsonby and Herne Bay Vets we care for your pets like family. We aim to provide first class care for our patients and exceed the expectations of our patient’s, owners and family.

We are currently looking for a Part Time, dedicated Cattery Attendant to join our lovely team.

Working Wednesday to Sunday, 2 - 3 hours per day, the right candidate will possess a attention to detail, a positive attitude and a caring demeanour, the recipe for providing superior care to our gorgeous boarding cats and maintaining our catteries to the highest of professional standards.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • General cleaning of the cattery
  • Feeding the cats
  • Grooming
  • Monitoring for health problems
  • Medicating animals when needed
  • Updating clients using our new computer program
  • Reporting to the Nursing team
  • Assisting with admits and discharges during peak seasons

What we are looking for:

  • Dedication and reliability
  • A genuine love and compassion for animals, in particular – cats
  • A strong work ethic and flexibility to work extra hours when required
  • Availability to work during our peak seasons is essential (public holidays and school holidays)
  • Own transport essential to travel between clinics
  • A team player
  • Previous cattery experience desirable yet not essential. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate

The number of required hours can be variable dependent on how full our catteries are at the time.  Easter, Christmas, New Years and long weekends are our busiest times, so we require someone who is able to work weekends and public holidays.
